Del 4 al 9 de marzo se llevó a cabo el Campeonato Mundial de Kiteboarding en Playa del Carmen, siendo la sede Playa Mamita´s.

Esta copa contó con 50 participantes, en categoría femenil y varonil, los cuales dieron su mejor esfuerzo en estilo libre y las competencias de velocidad. Esta copa contó con premios por más de 40 mil dólares, repartidos en diferentes categorías, entregándose también una escultura de una cabeza maya para todos los ganadores.

From March 4th to 9th, the Kiteboard World Cup was carried out in Mamita´s Beach Club of Playa del Carmen.

In this contest, there were 50 participants, in female and male category, who done their best effort in free style and velocity competitions. This competition had prizes of around 40 thousand dollars, distributed in different categories, the winners received a sculpture of a Mayan head as well.

Cinco días llenos de energía, trucos y velocidad, donde todos los Riders demostraron porque el Kiteboard ha logrado una mayor afición, junto con un número considerable de atletas que se suman a las filas de este deporte, que en un tiempo fue considerado como deporte extremo, pero que, por sus cualidades, ha logrado obtener su propia identidad, convirtiéndose no sólo en un deporte, sino en un estilio de vida que ha dado la vuelta alrededor del mundo. Esta vez México fue testigo de un evento que sin duda, contó con una impecable organización, junto con un staff de trabajo profesional.

Five days full of energy, tricks and speed, where all the Riders showed why the Kiteboard has achieved a bigger liking, and with a considerable number of athletes that are joining this sport, that time ago was considered as an extreme sport, but by the time and characteristics, it has been able to obtain its own identity, becoming a unique sport and a life style around the world. A worldcup with an exellent organization and a professional working staff.

El Kiteboard es uno de los últimos deportes acuáticos en ganar popularidad. Es necesario contar con un papalote o paracaídas (en algunos lugares lo llaman cometa) pequeño para propulsarse deslizándose sobre las olas en una tabla.
Existen diferentes marcas populares de equipo para el kiteboard, la mayoría de gran calidad y resistencia. Son 4 los elementos principales del equipo para practicar este deporte con 10 años de trayectoria.

The Kiteboard is one of the last watersports in winning popularity, it is necessary to have a small Kite or Parachute (in some places they call it comet), to propel you on the sea waves mounted on a board. 
There are different popular brands of kiteboard equipment, the most with full quality and resistance. In this report, it is a description of the equipment that you need to carry out to enjoy this sport with 10 years of trajectory. 

Papalote o Cometa de tracción: Existen en el mercado gran variedad de cometas de tracción, con dos o cuatro líneas. Algunas cuentan con  vejigas inflables las cuales tienen como función el  flotar para poder ser levantadas al vuelo desde el agua; como desventaja, esto reduce el desempeño aerodinámico, aunque en realidad un buen Rider experimentado logra un excelente control y desempeño con este tipo de cometa. Los no inflables tienen un buen desempeño incluso cuando no existe mucho viento Existen tres tipos de radio de acción en los papalotes, bajo, medio y alto, siendo los últimos los que generan mayor impulso y velocidad, aunque su estabilidad disminuye.

Kite or Parachute: There is a great variety of kites to purchase, with two or four lines. Some of them are inflatable, which function is to float so you can be able to flight it from the water or do a water relaunch; as disadvantage, this reduces the aerodynamic acting, in fact a good experienced Rider achieves an excellent control and performance with this kite type. The foil kites are good for low wind making a good performance. There are three types of action radio, low, half and high kites, being the last one, those that generate bigger impulse and speed, although they have fewer stability. 

 

Barra de control o Botalón: Ésta es la parte donde se sujeta y se le da control al cometa o papalote, existen sistemas para usar 2 o 4 líneas. Los de 2 líneas son fáciles de manipular y se reduce la probabilidad de que se enreden, mientras que los sistemas de 4 líneas permiten al Rider el ajustar el poder de tracción del cometa, cambiando el angulo de desempeño del papalote.

Line control system : (Or powerdrive), this is the part that you handle and gives control to the kite, there are systems that use 2 or 4 lines. Two-line kites are easy to use since there are fewer lines to setup and get tangled. Four-line kites allow the Rider to adjust the power of the kite by changing angle of attack of the kite.

Arnés para kiteboard: El arnés cumple la función de distribuir la fuerza a lo largo de todo el cuerpo, para que ésta no sólo recaiga en los brazos, existen diferentes tipos de arnés, como el de impacto y cintura, entre otros.

Harness for kiteboard: The harness completes the function of distributing the force along the whole body, so that is not only in the arms, there are different types, like waist, seat or impact harness.

Líneas de vuelo para kitesurf: en su mayoría están fabricadas de Fibra Spectra,  material delgado y resistente. El largo de una línea para las cometas de tracción es de alrededor de 36 metros (120 pies), aunque todas las cometas poseen una longitud recomendada.  Hay que asegurarse de que la longitud de las líneas sea la misma. La fibra Spectra esta hecha de polietileno de ultra alto peso molecular es la más fuerte y liviana lograda por el hombre. La alta tenacidad del Spectra la hace de 8 a 10 veces más fuerte que el acero, 40 por ciento más fuerte que la aramida. Con destacada resistencia y extraordinarias propiedades elásticas-viscosas, la fibra Spectra puede absorber altas velocidades de energía.

Flight lines for kitesurf: in their majority, they are manufactured of Fibra Spectra, thin and resistant material. The long of a line for the traction kites is around 36 meters (120 feet), although all the kites have a recommended longitude.  It is necessary to make sure that the longitude of the lines is the same one.The fiber Spectra is made of polyethylene of ultra high molecular weight, it is the strongest and light fiber made by the human. The high tenacity of the Spectra makes it from 8 to 10 times stronger than the steel, 40 percent stronger than aramida. With outstanding resistance and extraordinary elastic-viscous properties, the fiber Spectra can absorb high energy speeds.  

 

Tabla para Kitesurf: Es necesario contar con una tabla diseñada para kitesurf. Existen dos tipos: las tablas largas son para navegar con vientos suaves, y las tablas pequeñas son para maniobras rápidas y trucos. El tamaño puede depender del nivel del Rider, peso y condiciones.

Board: It is necessary to have a Board designed for kitesurf. There are two types: the long boards are to navigate with soft winds, and the small boards are for quick movements and tricks. The size can depend on the Rider's level, weight and conditions.

Los Riders dieron lo mejor de sí en esta copa mundial, complaciendo a los espectadores con fabulosos trucos en el estilo libre y excelentes técnicas en las competencias de velocidad.
Riders de todo el mundo entre los que se encuentran: Aaron Hadlow, Kevin Langree, Cesar Portas, Michael Schitzhofer, Álvaro Onieva, Alex Pastor, Sebastián Garat, Reno Romeo, Tom Court, Rocky Chatwell, Julian Hosp., Tom Hebert, en la categoría varonil, y también Gisela Pulido, Bruna Kajiya, Angela Peral, Susi Mai, Audri Meyer, Carolina Winkowska, en la categoria femenil, entre otros.

The Riders gave the best of them in this world cup, pleasing the spectators with fabulous tricks in freestyle, and with excellent technics in the speed competitions.There were Riders from all over the world like: Aaron Hadlow, Kevin Langree, Cesar Portas, Michael Schitzhofer, Alvaro Onieva, Alex Pastor, Sebastián Garat, Reno Romeo, Tom Court, Rocky Chatwell, Julian Hosp., Tom Hebert, in the male cathegory and Gisela Pulido, Bruna Kajiya, Angela Peral, Susi Mai, Audri Meyer, Carolina Winkowska, in female cathegory, and more.

Originario de Colima (México), Sean Farley (fotografía a la izquierda), de 20 años de edad, obtuvo el primer lugar en la categoría de carreras, nos transmitió su pasión por este deporte, comentando que en México existe mucha gente y empresas interesadas en apoyar al deporte, contrario a la que algunos opinan, y se refleja en todos los deportistas que están ahí, "simplemente hay que ser profesional en lo que se hace y comprometerse con ello.."

Native of Colima (Mexico), Sean Farley, 20 years old, won the first place in the cathegory of speed competition. He transmitted us his passion for this sport, saying that in Mexico a lot of people and companies are interested in supporting this sport , and it is reflected in all the Riders that are there, "it is simply necessary to be professional in what we make and to commit with it..."

Por parte de México tuvimos representantes como Sean Farley, Paco Chan, Raquel Arroyo, Jadie Delille, Adam Withington y Angel Rojas entre otros. Actualmente la pasión y deseo de practicar este deporte en México se ha incrementado, y más aún, teniendo representantes de primer nivel que han logrado colocarse en los primeros sitios de las tablas de clasificación.
Sin duda México sonará cada vez más en premiaciones y podiums en los próximos eventos.

Mexico had the representatives like Sean Farley, Paco Chan, Raquel Arroyo, Jadie Delille, Adam Withington and Angel Rojas. Now, the passion and desire to practice this sport in Mexico have been increased, and even more, having top level representatives that have been placed in the first places of the world classification charts.
With any doubt, Mexico will be in the podiums in the next events.

Por primera vez en Playa del Carmen, corazón de la Riviera Maya, se realizó un evento de esta magnitud, arrojando buenos resultados, el empeño en la organizacion por parte del staff de esta copa así como la empresa responsable de la organización, logró convencer tanto al público presente como a los patrocinadores que Playa del Carmen puede seguir organizando este evento en años subsecuentes, colocando a Playa como una de las mejores localidades a nivel mundial para la realizacion de esta copa.

For the first time in Playa del Carmen, heart of Riviera Maya, it was carried out an event of this magnitude. Having good results, the good work in the organization by all the staff of this cup, as well as the company that was in charge the organization, it was able to convince as much to the audience as to the sponsors, that Playa del Carmen can continue organizing this event in subsequent years, placing Playa del Carmen like one of the best towns in the world to perform this Cup.

Dentro de la organización del evento, Jorge Marzuca, dueño de Mamita's Beach Club nos comentó que le da gusto apoyar al deporte, ofreciendo el espacio para la sede de eventos de calidad como éste, donde se vieron a deportistas de talla internacional, dentro de los cuales destacaron mexicanos con gran talento, eventos que colocan a la Riviera Maya en el plano mundial para la realización de éstos.

Erika y Raúl Sastré, junto con Diego Benitez, de Photopro-media, fueron parte fundamental para la realizacion de este campeonato, donde se extremo cada detalle y cuyo resultado se transformó en un evento de primer nivel, a la altura de los grandes, gente dispuesta y agradables anfitriones de esta copa.

 

In the organization of the event, Jorge Marzuca, owner of Mamita's Beach Club, commented us that it is a pleasure to him giving support to different sports, and to be homeplece of quality events sucha as the Kiteboard World Cup, where people can see the best Riders of the world including Some Mexican Riders great talent. Events that place Riviera Maya in the world plane for the realization of more ones.

Erika and Raúl Sastré, with Diego Benitez, of Photopro-stocking, were fundamental part for the realization of this championship, where every detail was extremed and became in a first level World Cup organization, like the big ones in other countries, very nice people and hosts of this World Cup.
